LIONEL ANDREY clarinet

Lionel Andrey, born 1990 in Lausanne, is an acclaimed clarinettist and chamber musician whose recitals and concerts have been recorded by the broadcasters Espace 2 and SRF Kultur (Switzerland), France Musique (Paris) and Yle (Finland). He has given the world premières of Michael Jarrell’s Assonance 1b and Charles Neidlich’s Tempest in a Tea Pot, among other pieces, and has played solo clarinet in the Italian orchestra Spira Mirabilis, the Finnish Radio Orchestra (Helsinki) and the Auckland Philharmonia (New Zealand). In addition to regular invitations to play in various Swiss orchestras, he is a member of the Reeds in Motion quintet and Duo Arto. He completed a master’s degree with Harri Mäki in Helsinki and with François Benda in Basel.
